Being truly INCLUSIVE!
We recognise that some of our children are bilingual and try to capitalise on this advantage so that it contributes to the all round development of the child’s self-esteem and abilities.
'Specialist intensive teaching for pupils who speak English as an additional language supports... learning well and enables them to make good progress.' (Ofsted, March 2017)
Progress and attainment for children with English as an additional language remains a strength of the school. We were very proud of the fact that we achieved the highest placing of school in 2018 for Primary Performance in Hertfordshire- that's 1st place out of 492 primary schools!
Here's a screen shot of the results to show this awesome achievement.
Such success is due to having a WHOLE SCHOOL approach in regard to inclusion. Our school INCo (Inclusion Coordinator) works with staff to ensure classrooms are welcoming and accessible to all children. Different languages are also celebrated around school and we ensure that every child feels comfortable and happy to engage with what we offer in class.
