School Closure- Friday AM Update

Planning for the school closure and update for key/ critical workers

Good Morning Everyone,

The update/ guidance from the government on key/ critical workers was published at just after half past midnight last night.

It is interesting to read that the 'enhanced' expectations came some way towards meeting ours at Tudor. We had ALREADY committed to single key/ critical worker (per family) children being offered support at Tudor. We had also already offered (and spoken to) many identified families that we believed would have been under considerable additional strain during these difficult times.

The full guidance is here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Core principles to consider:

1. If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.

2. If a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them.

3. Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.

4. Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.

If, therefore, you feel you meet the criteria and want to send your children to school please email the school office on admin@tudor.herts.sch.uk and title your email 'PROVISION AT TUDOR REQUEST'. It would be helpful to add further information on your situation and include details of your place of work.

THIS MUST BE COMPLETED BY 2pm on Friday 20th March.

If you would rather contact the school in person, we have 'paper copies' of the request to fill in too.

For those children coming in for their last day (before the closure period) today we pledge to give them a wonderful day like any other. Further learning packs will be given out and we will share further supplementary information about what the teaching team have planned. I am wary of 'over promising' (and under delivering) but if the teachers provide half of the fun extras that they have in mind then Tudor Primary will certainly be leading the way...
