Dear Parents and Carers of Tudor Primary,

As the Government increases measures to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, we wanted to provide reassurances that Tudor Primary is doing all it can to keep the school community safe. We remain proud of our response so far as well as our plans that are in place if Tudor is unable to remain open. There has been very little staff absence and the team continue to demonstrate full commitment to the children.

The school continues to follow the national guidance and in the event of a possible outbreak, we will follow the specialist advice available from Hertfordshire County Council. This advice will be communicated to you via letter, text message and via the school website: www.tudor.herts.sch.uk

Please could you ensure that your personal details held on file are up to date and accurate, including email address. If you need to amend details, please email: admin@tudor.herts.sch.uk or speak to the school office.

The school continues to make (and refine) contingency plans in the event of closure, including purchasing additional materials for pupils to aid their learning in the event of any closure. The school website will be utilised by staff to support this learning where appropriate. For those families self isolating, the website has a number of links to source learning activities. It is planned for each teacher/ class to have a new email address which will allow children to contact the school/ share work if the school closes. We will aim for interaction between the children and classteacher each day. All of this information will be shared with you at an appropriate time.              

The school leadership team remain confident that all necessary precautions are being taken at this time. We are ensuring the regular washing of all children’s hands at key times, daily enhanced cleaning of the school site, cutlery being provided to avoid the collection of others utensils and the suspension of whole school assemblies. We have a good stock of soap and cleaning materials to ensure this continues. The children remain enthused and continue to demonstrate excellent behaviour.

Whilst there is understandable concern, we are committed to doing all we can to keep the school open. For those families that have chosen to be absent from school, we understand the decision you have made in these difficult circumstances and will continue to offer as much support as we can.

If you or a member of your household displays any symptoms linked to Covid-19, please ensure you follow the advice given at: www.nhs.uk and inform the school to enable precautions to be taken to protect our children and staff.

Members of the Tudor staff aim to remain available on site during any school closure. Whilst a closure to children may be required, the school can remain a source of support to the local community. We are also planning for ways to ensure that vulnerable families/ children can get access to food each day.

We are acutely aware of how the current situation will increase pressures on our vulnerable families. If you are able to offer donations of any of the following, we will work to ensure that the items are given out:

Cans/ tins, dried goods, non-perishable foods pasta, rice, toiletries, plastic bags.

If you feel you can donate something, please bring to the school tomorrow. We have also been thrilled to receive offers of support from parents who can be on-hand to help distribute support to the local community. Despite the current uncertainty of what lies ahead, our community continues to set the standard! #TeamTudor
