Welcome back to Tudor Primary! All at Tudor are excited to return for the new academic year of 2019-2020. It was great to see all the happy faces return to our school yesterday and it is so pleasing to see the new Tudorites turn up in their new uniforms. Whilst there has not been any major structural redevelopment over the summer period, the school has undergone some refurbishments. The key stage 2 building, for example, has benefitted from some new carpeting as well as redecoration (and new colour schemes). It really has ‘freshened up’ this area of the school and there were lots of ‘oohs and aahs’ as the children saw the impact of these works on their first day back yesterday.
Over the last few years there has been a large number of upgrades and it is pleasing to have reached a point where the complete school site is something that we can all be really proud of.
Dropping off and picking up- please read!
Whilst the school day starts at 8.55am, all classrooms are accessible from 8.45am and learning activities will be available to the children. Please do not try to access the site before 8.30am unless you are using our breakfast club provision.
At the end of the day, children from Foundation Stage, Year 1,Year 2 and Year 3 must be collected by an appropriately aged person/ adult. In the interest of the children’s safety, we will not hand them over to children of primary school age unless there is a recorded written request from the family and agreement from the school.
EnergyKidz after school club- it is now up and RUNNING!
A huge step forward for Tudor Primary is that we now offer provision to children from 7.45am until 6pm EVERY day. The breakfast club continues to be fantastically popular and we hope that parents will be equally happy with the new EnergyKidz club after school. The club has an awesome range of activities to keep children entertained and fulfilled at the end of the school day and, at just over £10 per session (inc. buffet style healthy snacks/ food) it is super value.
New clubs for the Autumn term…
Keep an eye out for letters for the clubs that will be taking place this term. We continue to offer a range of fun clubs at subsidised prices. We have listened to feedback and we have endeavoured to introduce more artistic and creative clubs. If you receive financial support, the costs of these clubs are subsidised further- do come and see the office if you are unsure whether you are eligible for PPG support. Make sure any requests for spaces at clubs are returned on time.
‘Meet the teacher’ meetings for years 1-6 are next week…
This will be a short, informal opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher as well as hear about what the children will be learning about and doing in what is always a very busy term. The meetings will take place at 2.45pm. The dates of the meetings (and where each meeting will take place) are as follows:
Mon 9th Sept- Year 1 (1P) Tues 10th Sept- Year 2 (2R) Wed 11th Sept- Year 3 (3T)
Thurs 12th Sept- Year 4 (4U) Fri 13th Sept- Year 5 (5X) Mon 16th Sept- Year 6 (6Z)
School Dinners- these MUST be paid for in advance
The start of the year is a perfect time to remind parents about the use of school gateway app for online payments. We hope that as many parents (new or those who have been here longer!) as possible take advantage of this effective and efficient way to make school related payments. The office team would really appreciate it if more families use this safe and secure method.
School dinners remain at £2.60 per meal for the Autumn term for children in years 3,4,5 and 6. Please remember that meals must be paid for in advance – whether that’s daily, weekly or monthly. You can even load up for the full half term which is £114.40 or the full term for £202.80. Year 3 parents are (gently) reminded that their children do not receive free school meals now that they have reached Key Stage 2.
JCA- Year 6 residential is next month!
Year 6 parents probably do not need reminding that the year 6 residential trip to Condover Hall is taking place on the week beginning Monday 7th October. Please ensure all medical forms are completed and any outstanding payments have been made. If you are interested in purchasing waterproofs (we cannot guarantee perfect weather), you can order some at a super price from the office.
Attendance is improving at Tudor- let’s all keep making the right choices…
Please be assured I will continue to focus on ensuring high levels of attendance for all those who are part of the Tudor community. I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of this school and it pleases me greatly to see how the children continue to be happy in school whilst educational standards for all ages continue to improve. We are all committed to providing the best for your children and if we were able to hit attendance targets of 97%+ for all children, I would be the happiest Headteacher around- please do all that you can to make sure your child attends school each day.
Communication is a key part of any school and I am proud of what Tudor does in respect of this. Your child’s home/school diary is vital as this will enable you to maintain a dialogue with your child’s teacher. If something is a little more ‘important’ you are able to see your teacher before or after school. Please do recognise, though, that such moments of the day can be quite busy and, more often than not, arranging a specific meeting may be easier- feel free to arrange them via the school office and/ or the teacher.
As Headteacher, I will continue to be accessible as much as possible so do look out for me at the start and end of each day. For information about news and the running of the school, check the website first- I predict the answer to most queries will be there…
