Newsletter 3- 5th October
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Continuing to drive forward…
Whilst the outside temperatures are not as high at the moment and the evenings a little darker, there continues to be a warm atmosphere around the school. This is evident in so many ways and it is always commented upon by visitors to the school. As well as the number of prospective parents who are visiting Tudor at the moment for next year’s Nursery and Reception classes, we are experiencing a number of in- year admissions. The number of pupils in the school is now much larger than when I first became head in Autumn 2016. This makes it even more pleasing that we now have a hall the right size and increased dining facilities!
Our thematic curriculum…
One of the biggest changes at Tudor during the last two years was the introduction of a true thematic curriculum. It is really pleasing to see how this has become a real strength of our school. As highlighted in the news, a high quality curriculum is a must for schools and I firmly believe that we are succeeding with this. A walk around our school clearly demonstrates how the children are immersed in fun learning experiences and the children do talk positively about the themes a lot too- and that is great evidence that we are doing the right thing. An example of this was when Cassia came up to me in 1O this week- in her spare time she had written a story book about how some toys that had come alive… it was all very exciting and it her ideas had clearly been influenced by Miss Bell and the ‘Toy Stories’ theme that is in Key Stage 1 at the moment. Well done Cassia (and Miss Bell!).
Our year 6 adventurers of 2018 (and 2019!)
On Monday, year 6 are off to JCA at Condover Hall in Shropshire. I am confident that they will have the most amazing time. This is an activity centre that my previous school used and it really is of the highest quality. They will be climbing, zip lining, canoeing, fencing, rafting (amongst a number of other things!) and I know that they will make some wonderful memories. A big thank you to all the staff who will be accompanying them! This time next year it will be the turn of the year 5 children to visit Condover Hall- we have booked the week of Monday 7th October to Friday 11th October so add those dates to your diaries if you are currently in year 5. Keep an eye out for further updates as we will be organising a parent information evening soon.
The coach for the school trip will be leaving on Monday morning so we do request that parents park a little further away from the school on Monday. The departure time has been brought forward (so we can fit in more activities!) and we are scheduled to leave at 9.00am. Year 6 children are to arrive with their luggage at 8.30am. Please try and keep the front of the school as clear as possible. Your help with this would be much appreciated.
Class assemblies- being aware of key dates
The hall was packed for the 2R assembly this week and it was super to see so many parents there. Do recognise that we invite parents to stay on for refreshments afterwards- as well as a chance to say hello, it is a chance to share news on what is happening in and around our school…

If you require any support to book your appointments, do visit the school office- we hope to see every child represented at the meetings as they are a vital aspect of the partnership that we require to ensure children are successful in their schooling.
Attendance Update… and is your child ‘Tudor Ready’?
We are still experiencing some better attendance scores in this new term. Whilst we are a school that is achieves well academically, it would be amazing if we were as successful with attendance. Classes that achieved the target of 97%+ were: 1O, 2Q, 3S, 3T and 6Z. A number of other classes were very close too!
I look forward to sharing a new initiative in school soon that will have some truly amazing prizes. It is all about being ‘Tudor Ready’ and part of it will be about classes being prepared for learning. Classes that are ‘100% Tudor Ready’ will earn points towards some great rewards- we believe that if the classes recognise how we all need to support each other, the outcomes can be really positive
Another amazing FOT event is on soon…
On Friday 26th October, the Friends of Tudor will be holding their ‘Movie Quiz’ event. The FOT organise really fun events and the quiz is always a really popular one- do come along and join in the fun!
If you want to be a part of the fabulous FOT or you want to find out more, you are warmly invited to the next meeting which is being held in school on Thursday 11th October at 7.30pm.
It’s not long until the first Tudor Owls Cake Sale of the year:

Tudor Owls- Friday (12th October) is cake day. This time it will be the turn of the children in Year 1 to provide biscuits and Y5 to provide cakes. Tudor Owls charge 20p for each cake or for two biscuits. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN CAKES/ BISCUITS THAT CONTAIN NUTS- THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! |
