Tudor Primary School

New Year, new term, new LEARNING!

So excited about what is in store...

I would like to begin this web update by wishing you all a happy new year. We have a lot to look forward to at Tudor in 2018- this year will see the completion of our school hall as well as a number of other updates to the school.

Whilst it is exciting to see the school evolve, what is most important is what we are able to deliver to the fantasic children that come to school. The new themes have been carefully planned and the staff have really been imaginative (and creative!) in their thinking. The themes in the school are:

KS1- From Field to Fork

Lower Key Stage 2- Crimebusters

Upper Key Stage 2- Extreme Environments

The children in Key Stage 1 have already made a super start and the 'foods of the world' tasting session proved very popular yesterday. A big thank you to the support of parents that made this possible. It really impresses me to see how the Tudor community continues to be so suppportive in helping the children engage in their learning.

It is fair to say that a large number of children experienced a wide range of foods that they have never tasted (or seen) before.

The thematic approach to our curriculum is a real strength of our school. Imagine what the children in 5W thought when they entered their room on the first day of the new term. Their learning 'environment was certainly changed to the extreme':

They are now able to take inspiration from the storm that is raging in the corner... the impact of the display is already resulting in super written responses!

In year 3 and year 4, the 'Crimebusters' theme is already testing the detective skills of our young learners. Foresnsic evidence was being analysed on Friday last week to find out which teacher stole the biscuits. I understand that our young detectives are still on the case... all I can say is that it wasn't me... or was it ;)

Don't forget to keep an eye on our class learning blogs to find out how the learning is making a difference at Tudor! The blogs can be found in the 'Learning tab' in the 'Curriculum and Classes' section.

I also look forward to sharing news about the impact of our new work alongside 'Rock Steady' as well as our new after school clubs. Keep an eye on our website...

Enjoy the rest of the week.
