Web News Update- Finishing the term in the right way...

Lots of fun... lots to do...

Whilst the end of the Autumn term is always a busy time in school, the recent period has seen some real 'additional challenges'. The flurry of snow last week was clearly a welcome 'early Christmas present' for the children but it does cause schools some real problems. I was really hoping we could open on Monday and, with hindsight, that may have been possible but I do think it was right to close: the snow was quite deep and forecasts highlighted a worsening situation on Monday. Tuesday brought a whole new set of challenges but, due to the efforts of a number of staff (most notably Mr Donley) I am confident in stating there would have been few schools more prepared than Tudor. Large areas had been cleared of snow and the children's safety in school was assured. Attendance was really pleasing and, as I said to the children in Tuesday's assembly, we find out how strong we really are in times of difficulty. Whilst the staff car park was virtually empty, every single staff member was present for the children and lessons retained a high quality. A big thank you to all the community who 'gave that extra effort' on Tuesday...

It was obviously disappointing to have to postpone the Open-Air Concert on Tuesday due to the weather but we have already rearranged a new date and time for this- after all , we all want to be able to share the songs and stories that we have been learning. Monday 18th December at 3.30pm is the new date and time and we look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. Do wrap up warm and bring your festive cheer- the children are looking forward to it and I know many of you are too.

A big well done to EYFS this week. Due to the hall build the festive activities for our youngest children were quite different this year but they proved to be just as well attended. Feedback was good and I know the children enjoyed seeing their families in school.

There has been a number of letters that have gone home recently. More clubs and more choice for children is a target and this will only improve further when we have our new hall complete. Do make sure you complete the forms if you would like your child to join in- the clubs do continue to be popular.

Some notable additions to our extra curricular provision include a new 'partnership' with CG Education. I have made contact with the company and we are one of the first 'state' schools that this LEGO robotics and LEGO storytelling group will now be working with on a regular basis. I really believe that Tudor's 'extra-curricular provision' is becoming strong and I am excited about some new musical opportunities too...

Rock Steady Music School introduced themselves to the children last week and it was one of the best assemblies ever! I am working closely with Rock Steady to ensure that as many children as possible have the potential for this music and band tuition. A letter for 'registering interest' was sent home yesterday and I am sure lots of children will want to get involved. Additional capacity for the future has already been 'agreed' too. If you would like more information, do have a look at their website:

There continues to be lots of exciting things going on at Tudor. Our children are incredibly special people and the atmosphere around school is always positive. As well as making sure that we give them high quality learning in a safe, secure school, the 'Tudorites' can have even more opportunities to show how creative and talented they are...

Do continue to use our website for information. From class blogs (they are really super!) to finding out about Tudor Talents (check out Daisy's Irish Dancing performance) there really is a lot to interest you. We also have a twitter account that helps direct traffic towards it (TudorPrimaryHH) so use that for regular reminders and other updates.

Do not forget that school closes at 2pm next Tuesday. I trust you will all have a good holiday... but there is still lots to happen in school before then!
