This year is really motoring by. Time flies when you’re having fun! The spring term is our shortest term of the school year but there is always so much to fit in. The rates of progress really increase as all that hard work earlier in the year starts to take effect. The high-quality of work is evident in school- from amazing assemblies to the results and outcomes the children are achieving in class- it should fill us all with confidence that the children of Tudor continue to get a GREAT deal.
Just in the last few weeks we have had some special visitors- the space presentations for years 5+6 were incredibly well-received. The children learned so much with many saying it was one of their favourite Tudor experiences. There were flames, smoke, explosions and more- things that children do really enjoy!
Talking of amazing things, did you see that Electric Umbrella managed to achieve the golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday?! What a fantastic organisation they are. We have registered for a special assembly with them on Monday and we look forward to them returning to Tudor in the future too.
They truly are a wonderful organisation within our local community that brings joy to so many people.
Tudor Primary is 50 years old!
2024-2025 is the 50th school year of Tudor Primary. As the documents below share, the official opening was in the November of 1974.
Historical records written by the first headteacher make interesting reading- the job of a school leader has always been rather challenging, with each day bringing something different!
Records from 1975 include tree vandalism, country dancing and 9-0 football wins over Pixies HiIl. Mind you, the 17th June Alsatian bite on a ‘tender part of the anatomy’ sounds as painful as having to deal with modern-day social media issues 😉
Don’t forget your tickets for our special commemorative events on the weekend of May 31st/ June 1st. The Friends of Tudor have managed to source the country’s leading school circus experience for what will be two amazing days. As a Tudor bonus, each ticket purchased will gain you access for what is sure to be the disco of the year.
To help celebrate this 50th full school year, members of the Tudor community (old and new) are invited to groove together in the awesome circus big top on the evening of Saturday 31st May. There is sure to be some extra special surprises on the night too. Please do ensure that EVERYONE who wants to join us purchases a circus ticket (for either one of the two days). Entry will not be possible without one.
Remember that this date is the second weekend of the half term break. We hope to see lots of past-Tudorites- this is an event for ALL OF #TeamTudor.
Tickets are now on sale- www.pta-events.co.uk/friends-of-tudor

Friday Freewheeling- a number of children (and parents) have asked recently when our Friday bike and scooter activities will start again. This will be offered in a similar arrangement to the past. During the summer term and when we have good weather (as well as the right capacity of staffing- the team do this voluntarily), parents will be emailed when it is on. We will obviously give you a good period of notice! We are proud of this Tudor activity and it is great to hear that such opportunities have been taken on by other schools in Dacorum. Being active is key for well-being!
Talking of being active- good luck to the Tudor dance group in the Dacorum Dance Show on Friday. Thanks to Grace Barry who has, once again, been a super dance tutor…
Attendance update- An important factor in the success of Tudor children (socially as well as academically) is our super attendance. Results like those shown below evidence excellent commitment from home to school.
For those children that are absent through illness, etc, you MUST inform the school. Please be aware that we have a duty of care/ safeguarding to the children whether they are in school or not! We take this responsibility very seriously and we require the full cooperation of parents as part of this. As a reminder, make sure you complete the correct written documentation in the office if you are requesting time off school (non-illness related) for your child. Tudor’s success has grown alongside our improvement in attendance- the more that children have a consistent experience of school, the better they do… FACT!
And finally...
Thanks for all the kind comments recently in response to our county advisor report. The screenshot above shares what is being said about our provision in key inspection areas. We should all feel proud of the reputation we have built for our super outcomes… and happy children! We look forward to a fun summer term- as this newsletter highlights, there’s lots going on. In Tudor style, we have some fantastic surprises up our sleeves too- EVERY day counts so, whether in school or out of school, let’s all work in partnership in support of the best children around.
Term ENDS at 2pm on Friday 4th April.
We START back in school on Tuesday 22nd April.
