Amazing report received by the school and other TUDOR-TASTIC news!

Dear Parents/Carers of Tudor Primary School,
Whilst Tudor is always a school that has a real energy around it, the last few weeks of the autumn term are, without doubt, the busiest of all: there is just so much going on. We have been experiencing Christmas shows, festive lunches, drama productions, county inspections, school tours and more. As headteacher I remain keen to ensure we achieve the right ‘balance’ in school and an important part of this is maintaining a strong focus on learning- and this is not always easy to achieve on certain days- especially if all the chairs are having to be used in the hall for the Christmas productions! However, the teaching team are truly special at Tudor and they are able to adapt. The visitors to the school recently, such as prospective parents on tours, have been super impressed at the standards on show. From programming microbits in computing to making pies for evacuees in D&T, every lesson counts up until the last day. Of course, there will be some rewards and (even more) fun opportunities because our experience tells us that children flourish when challenged and engaged with their learning! The standards in writing across the school continue to impress and there have been lots of children eager to share their progress…
Helping the festive fun flow!
I was able to share with parents in the KS1 performance on Thursday just how difficult it can be to fit everything in at this time of year. The photo on the right shows a rather happy Mr Wendleken after we have managed to prepare the hall for the first of two (200+ pupils) sittings not long after the hall was used for the EYFS performance! A huge well done to everyone who makes the magic possible!
Talking of ‘MAGIC’ (our Early Years report has been received!) In the last newsletter I mentioned that we were awaiting a further county report on the quality of learning in early years. The report has now been received and it really makes TREMENDOUS reading. Mrs Price is an exceptional leader and it is no wonder that a number of other schools have been keen to see how the youngest learners at Tudor are supported. The comments below are taken from the county report and they evidence the super provision that is in place EVERY day at Tudor. Well done to the team. The children are progressing well and we have been delighted with the support (yet again!) from the parents in early years. This true partnership has been evidenced by the fantastic levels of attendance too.
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
Thank you to all of you that used your 'blue tokens' to vote for Tudor in Tesco's Stronger Starts Campaign during the past three months. I am pleased to share that this week we accepted a cheque for £1000, enabling us to create a calming, sensory space within school. ADD-vance, a group of professionals, who also happen to be parents of autistic and/or ADHD children, are facilitating a range of courses in the spring term. The aim of these courses is to support families of neurodivergent children by increasing understanding and changing perceptions about ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). To book a space on a course please use the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/add-vance-14054405963.
The Tudor Christmas Market and our school choir Our amazing Friends of Tudor continue to offer extra experiences for the school community and the ‘Tudor Christmas Market’ was great last weekend. The hall was busy with a range of stalls and it was awesome to see the school community enjoying themselves. The Tudor Owls raised £161 on their stall and this will make a real difference for Hospice of St. Francis.
Also, at the market, we had the first public performance by our new school choir who have been practising with Miss Williams. They also performed this week for the residents of Mountbatten Lodge.
I am sure you will join me in congratulating the choir for the super start they have made. I am not exaggerating when I say that they will soon be at Wembley Arena as part of Young Voices- how exciting!
Christmas Craft Event for all pupils- Tuesday 17th December
Our Christmas Craft Event proved popular last year and we hope to see lots you supporting Reception to Y5 in their classes next Tuesday. The fun starts at 2.45pm and children are to remain in school until 3.45pm. We are sure that you will be impressed with the quality of what is on offer around the school and there will be some further festive treats to enjoy. If you have children in different year groups, you will be free to move around the school so no one should miss out!
The Hangout Christmas Parties
Have you booked your child on to one of the Hangout Christmas Parties yet? The Halloween event was a super success and the Hangout team are certainly looking forward to LOTS of fun with party games, discos and more! Book early VIA ARBOR to avoid disappointment.
We should all feel proud of our school and I trust that this newsletter highlights why community and working together is so important. As well as enjoying the fun (and exhaustion 😉) that the festive period brings, we also can focus on making a positive difference to others. The team at Tudor truly believe that we work with the best children (and families!) around and we appreciate the partnership that exists between home and school. On occasions there will be times of increased challenge but we pledge that we will always seek to provide solutions or support. Let’s enjoy a super final week of school in 2024- there is more festive fun on the way, culminating in our special final celebration assembly next Friday. Who will win the Tudor gameshow? As the children know, the staff get rather competitive! On behalf of all at Tudor, we wish you a fabulous festive period. Term ends at 2pm on Friday 20th December.
Be assured that 2025 is going to be Tudor-Tastic too…
