We've been thinking about what materials are best to use for each part of a doll's house and why. 2R decided it's important the walls and roof of a doll's house are waterproof so the rain doesn't go inside if it's left in the garden (like the toys in Toys in Space!) Today we tested materials to find out if they are absorbent or waterproof. The children made great predictions based on their everyday life (e.g. water bottles are waterproof and they are usually plastic) but were surprised when some materials were completely one way or the other. Many materials were a little bit of one and a lot of the other.
