Over the last two weeks, Year 5 has been on an epic time-traveling adventure, diving further into the Viking and Anglo-Saxon eras. They've written newspapers about the legendary Viking attack on Lindisfarne, which they had learnt about in their History lesson and Guided Reading sessions. The children also worked on developing their formal tone of writing and using parenthesis and relative clauses to add extra information to their sentences (this will be a focus throughout Year 5). Finally, we used eyewitness statements to write the source, using correctly punctuated direct speech as well as reported speech.
