Science is off to a super start in year five. Already here we have explored lots of new scientific vocabulary, including solution, solute, solvent, dissolve, insoluble, and soluble. 
  

The children began the lesson, by explaining what happened when their teacher stirred a teaspoon of sugar into water, and it disappeared! 'Magic!'.... They quickly realised that it had not in fact, disappeared, but had dissolved and created a solution of water and sugar.

Following this, the children then explored the solubility of different materials, including salt, sand and coffee.
