Have a look at what we got up to in October

October has been full of exciting learning and adventures. Come and have a look at all the things we have been up to this month.

In maths, we have been learning how to represent numbers in different ways. We love using all of our maths resources to show different numbers. We are getting really good at subitising and we have now made our own counting wands to help us check our counting. We were very excited to show our teachers all the different numbers we can make numbers in our play time, we used whiteboard pens to label them with the correct numeral.

In our maths lessons our teachers challenged us to use a range of resources to show 3 in different ways. Here are some of our amazing posters

Our School Rules

This month we have been learning about our school rules and why they are important and what they might look like in our classroom

We had some very important visitors come and talk to us. Our first visitor was Ms Smith. She came and spoke to us about her friend Buddy, who is a giant green speech bubble. Ms Smith came and taught us what to do if we were feeling safe or unhappy at school. By the end of our learning we could name so many adults in our school who we could go for help and we could even speak about adults at home who help us too.

Our next visitor was Miss Reading. She read us a story called "Find your Happy" and then she spoke to us about all the different tools we could use to help us feel happy or calm if we were feeling upset or angry.  We learnt that we could go for a walk or a run, we could colour or even listen to music. We shared ways that we like to stay calm and our teachers showed us spaces in our classroom where we could find things to help us.

Our final visitor was Mr Weightman, he came to speak to us about our school rules and why it is important to follow them. He read us a story called "The Bad Seed" which was about a seed that didn't make good choices and it made him feel bad inside so he started to follow the rules and he felt much better. Mr Weightman was very impressed with our listening!

Awesone Autumn!

We are really excited about Autumn! We went on an Autumn adventure and found leaves of all different colours, conkers, pine cones and even berries. We went into the woods and stood really quietly to listen for the birds and we could not believe our eyes when a fox ran straight our of the bushes right in front of us! We used some of the things we collected to make our own leaf person.

But nothing was more exciting than investigating and using pumpkins in our play. We have particularly loved to use them in the mud kitchen. We have explored scooping, chopping and mixing with the pumpkins. Have a look at our creations

The problem really began when one day we were enjoying our play and learn when we decided to check on the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch. We could not believe our eyes when we saw that the one of the pumpkins had scratch marks and teeth marks all over it. Who has been eating our pumpkins?! This called for an adventure! We used magnifying glasses to search for clues and took clipboards so we could draw and write what we found.  We thought it could a fox or a snake... or even the big bad mouse!
