School improvements, new dates, attendance success and the fabulous F.O.T!
Newsletter 5- Monday 12th November
Dear Parents/ Carers,
We never stop learning…
A strength of any school is the staff team and we are very fortunate with the team we have at Tudor. In the last few years, the school has introduced a robust approach to staff development and performance management. Last Monday, for example, as part of the school INSET day, every member of the Tudor team was given time to plan for their role in 2018-2019. It is an indicator of the quality and commitment of the staff how professionally they approached this process. It was clear that everyone wanted to set challenging targets and this will help ensure that Tudor continues to evolve and progress.
There are a lot of key dates (and meetings) to be aware of!
Communication is vital and I am proud of the range of ways that parents can stay informed about what is going on at Tudor. The setting of clear dates is part of this as parents do need to be given time to organise their own calendars so I would like to apologise for the slight adjustment in the dates of performances during the festive period at Tudor. On the last newsletter I provided some dates but these have now had to be changed slightly. You should have received a letter in your child’s book bag, but to confirm (once again!):
CONFIRMED dates/ times for Christmas performances are:
Tuesday 11th December- 10am- Reception performance
Tuesday 11th December- 6pm- Year 3 and Year 4
Wednesday 12th December- 11am- Nursery 'sing-along'
Wednesday 12th December- 6pm- Year 1 and Year 2
Thursday 13th December- 6pm- Year 5 and Year 6
To clarify, we originally planned for years 3-6 to do a key stage 2 performance together. Whilst we (initially) thought we could cope with the classes moving in (and out!) of the hall it was soon obvious that we could not ‘deliver’ a method of ticketing that would have been sufficient. By splitting the ‘juniors’ into 2 separate shows, we will be able to offer 2 tickets to each family as well as give more children the opportunity to perform on stage. Keep an eye out for further letters and information about tickets…
After the shows we plan to invite parents to stay on for some Christmas treats too- we really hope we can meet your ‘expectations’ at this time of year! After all, it is a truly special time of the year in school.
School trip meeting for Year 5 parents
Year 5 parents should already have received a letter about the planned residential trip to JCA Condover Hall in 2019. The initial parents’ meeting is taking place at 6pm on Tuesday 13th November in the school hall. As well as finding out what will be in store for the children, you will be able to ask any questions you have about how the week will be organised. We hope to see lots of you there.
Parent Consultation Evenings
It was great to see so many of you at the parent consultation evenings prior to half term. There are still some parents that we are trying to meet. If you have not been able to see your child’s teacher, please do contact the school as soon as possible so we can share important information on how the year has started. Consultations are a vital part of the partnership between home and school and we naturally aim for 100% attendance so that all children are represented.
Talking of attendance…
We had some really pleasing attendance scores again last week. We continue to place high focus on the need for all children to attend school each day and we pledge to support families in any way we can. Well done to the following classes:
Yellow (99.2%),
1O (98.1%), 2R (99.6%), 2Q (97.1%),
3S (97.9%), 4U (98.3%), 6Y (99.1%), 6Z (100%)
The school achieved 97.3% overall. Let’s maintain these higher rates of attendance!
FOT continue to deliver super events
Since you received the last newsletter, there have been some super Friends of Tudor events. The ‘Movie Quiz Night’ received great feedback and it was clear to see (and hear!) that the spooky disco was also popular with the children.
The events are always incredibly well organised and I am sure that many children and families will enjoy the Frost Fayre that is being held on Saturday 24th November from 12pm until 3pm.
The FOT Bingo event is a popular event and that is taking place on Friday 30th November.
If you have time, do come along to the FOT meeting on Tuesday 13th November at 7.30pm- it is a great way to help be involved in school life. The funds raised can help make a real difference to the children (and community) of Tudor Primary.
Tudor Owls Cake Sale is THIS week:

Tudor Owls- Friday (16th November) is cake day. This time it will be the turn of the children in Year 2 to provide biscuits and Y3 to provide cakes. Tudor Owls charge 20p for each cake or for two biscuits. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN CAKES/ BISCUITS THAT CONTAIN NUTS- THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! |
Thank you for taking the time to read our school newsletters. As this letter highlights, schools are very busy places and there are a huge range of things going on as 2018 draws to a close.
Just like last year, a number of parents who are looking round the school at the moment have commented on how super our website is- do make sure you use it as it provides a lot of important information, and, if things do need to be changed or reorganised, you will be able to keep up to date and fully informed.
