So many things to share about life in Tudor Primary...
Here is an online version of our latest newsletter- 25th May 2018
Newsletter 16
Dear Parents/ Carers,
I am going to have to say the same words again: What a busy week it has been again in school. I know I am starting sound like a broken record but I think the Tudor Team have outdone themselves during this final week of the half term. Monday was an awesome start to the week when Mike Mullen, former BMX world champion came in to talk to the children about keeping a positive mindset- and he certainly left the children inspired. A big cheer came when Mike (and his BMX!) flew over seven of the staff team- a big thank you to Mr Gayle who volunteered to be at the end of the line. Talking of zooming through the air…
A deserved treat for Year 6 at Chessington World of Adventures
All of the year 6 children enjoyed a sunny day at Chessington on Wednesday. After completing their tests last week (in which they clearly gave their all), our oldest pupils had a fantastic day racing around the park. I would also like to mention how well behaved they all were too. We continue to feel very proud of the behaviour of the children and they can always be relied upon to represent the school in the right way. Whilst the day was a reward for the children, the photo of Mr Munro on one of the rides highlights how ‘adults’ can also have a great time too. Look at that competitive look he has!
As I highlighted in last week’s correspondence, I am keen to ensure that we get the right balance of ‘memorable experiences’ and we are keen to deliver in the right way…
The Tudor Beach Day
Whilst hearts were beating fast on the rollercoasters, I must say my heart sank when I saw the rain on Thursday morning prior to our beach day. However, I must say that I need not have worried- it was, quite simply, a phenomenal day for all of the Key Stage 1 children.
From a Punch n Judy spectacular (you could hear the laughter from all corners of the school) and the monster bouncy castle assault course (well you do often see them near the beach!) to the hugely popular donkey rides and beach area with 3 tonnes of sand and water slides and paddling pools, it was a truly joyous day for all the children. I was a little worried if a ‘healthy schools’ inspector would turn up though as the ice cream van, popcorn machine and candy floss also proved popular- not to mention the fish n chip lunch which our school catering team laid on. Well… you’re only young once!
Reporting on academic and social progress- End of year Reports
The important dates for this term are on the school website. Two important dates are the 10th and 12th of July parents consultations. The feedback from the new approach to end of year reports was positive last year and, once again, you can expect a focussed meeting in which a final report is shared with you. Academic and social progress (and attainment) will be shared as well as key next steps for you to support your child going forward. Please make sure you all book an appointment (online or in the office) as this is a key part of the vital partnership between school and home.
Enabling you to share your thoughts on what Tudor is striving to achieve…
Our pupil voice activities have also been going on this week in school and we look forward to collating all the views on what the children think about THEIR school. It is pleasing to hear people say positive things about our school and, to help share this with the wider community, I do invite all of you to use PARENT VIEW to record your own thoughts. Parent view is used by a number of agencies (as well as future families and potential staff!) so do take time to complete it if you can. The link for parent view is: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/
If you have ANY concerns though, please do come and see me as I will always endeavour to respond in the right way. We are a school that believes that we will do anything in our power to meet the needs of the children and families of Tudor and we hope our actions demonstrate that…
The Best Breakfast Club… EVER!
I have mentioned how successful our breakfast club is in previous newsletters but I must say that it needs to be seen to be believed. The breakfast team presented an assembly on Tuesday and the children were clearly impressed with what is on offer for a very low price. I must say that there is something in it for everyone: from instant parking/drop offs for parents to tasty food and amazing activities for children- there really is something for all.
Walk to School Week
Well done to all those children and families who have been walking to school this week. As well as the health benefits, walking to school (or a place of work) is a far less stressful experience. For those unable to walk all the way from home, those parents who walk a little way away and walk the final distance also find this is easier than trying to find a space directly out front.
Lost pink scooter
Did your child receive a magic upgrade with a pink scooter this week? One of our children brought their new pink scooter to school and, when she went to get it at the end of the day from the bike/scooter shed, there was a slightly older version of the same scooter. Please do have a check at home and see if we can get the right scooters back to the right owners.
School dinner payments
School meals should be paid for in advance. Please note that after half term if your dinner account is in debt we will not be able to provide a school meal for your child. Please check your account balances over half term via the school gateway and make payment. If accounts are in debt, please provide a home packed lunch until you are able to pay in advance.
Next Friday will be the Tudor Owls Cake Sale:
|
Tudor Owls- Friday 8th June is cake day. This time it will be the turn of the children in Year 1 to provide biscuits and Y3 to provide cakes. Tudor Owls charge 20p for each cake or for two biscuits. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN CAKES/ BISCUITS THAT CONTAIN NUTS (including cherry bakewells as they have almonds) - THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! |
All of us at Tudor wish everyone a safe half term break and I look forward to seeing you all you again on Monday 4th June. Be assured that it will be another half term of high energy- and high enjoyment…
