Exciting times at Tudor...
Dear Parents/ Carers,
We are on a mission... and we have a clear vision!
As you will all be aware, there have been a number of changes at Tudor Primary in the recent past. Whilst some are easier to see than others (buildings and refurbishments!), some of the most important changes for the future of our school is what has been going on with the leadership of the school- at all levels. Ms Smith (as Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Donley (INCo) are now fully non-class based and this has provided them with the capacity to support children (and teachers) throughout the school. Moreover, our valued governing board have evolved and grown and they are also looking to help drive the school forward to new heights.
A vital part of the governing board’s work is ensuring that all of our community are able to recognise what ‘truly makes Tudor tick’. Different schools obviously have different approaches but we want to really focus on what makes us special as a school. In other words, ‘What are we at Tudor all completely committed to?’
I am, therefore, thrilled to share with you the new mission statement for Tudor Primary School.
‘Together we create a happy and caring community where all our children love to learn and want to achieve’
We wanted to celebrate something that is evident in all aspects of life in our school... and I really believe we have focussed on what matters the most. But any mission needs a direction- so what is our vision? As shown at the top of this newsletter the vision for Tudor is:
‘Enabling Dreams, Inspiring Minds, Building Futures’
All at Tudor have high aspirations for the children and we are keen to work with all of our school community to make our core aims become reality.
Tudor Twitter! Using social media to drive traffic to our website...
Talking of aspirations and ambition for the future, I still recognise that I am still in the early stages of my own experience as a Headteacher. However, I would like to think that our school website really is already an example of ‘great practice’. It includes regular news updates, key information and I think some of the class blogs are superb! To help ‘remind’ the most important people to use it (that’s you!), I have created a school ‘Twitter’ page. Do follow us on @TudorPrimaryHH- I will add links that then direct you to key updates on our website. Mr Higgins has also decided to use Twitter to help share the progress we are making in school sport. Do follow the news here on @TudorSport. I trust that you will find this use of social media useful... it’s all about keeping you all informed.
Rock Steady- A new opportunity!
Recently, I heard about a new company that was making a difference in school music. ‘Rock Steady’ provides music tuition in a band style: lessons take place each week and they practice in preparation for an end of term performance. Knowing how expressive our children like to be, I am keen to see how ‘Rock Steady’ can unlock the potential for some future ‘Tudor Rock Stars’. Talking of ‘Performing’...
It is our open-air Christmas Concert next week and (fingers crossed) it looks like it will be dry. I know the children are looking forward to wrapping up warm and singing songs to you for this special time of year (the teachers are less enthusiastic about their own ‘opportunity’ to sing to the school community but I’m sure they’ll be fine!). All children from Year 1 to Year 6 are expected to join in from 3.30pm on Tuesday 12th December. The festive cheer is sure to keep you all warm as well as the hot refreshments that will be served by the FOT!
The Nursery and Reception children are also busy getting ready for their own festivities with parents. The ‘Reception Class Event’ is from 2.15 -3.15 on Wednesday 13th and Nursery parents will be entertained on Thursday 14th December at 11am.
Don’t forget that Festive Jumpers can be worn on the last day of term- Tuesday 19th December. We close at 2pm on this day.
Attendance- making every day count...
There has been some good news regarding attendance recently and Mrs Donley has seen some improved attendance from some of our children who have rates that place them as a ‘persistent absentees’. Research shows that children with good attendance at school are more likely to be successful. This is why I must prioritise our efforts here because it is such a factor for your children’s future. Last week, yellow class won the attendance award with 100%- every child attended, every day! Perfect attendance is possible whatever age...
Friends of Tudor
Last week was very busy for our ‘Friends of Tudor’. Children were able to enjoy movie nights and the festive bingo went down well. It looks like those events made nearly £1000 in total- this money will be put to good use in school so that all the children can benefit from the efforts of our parent committee- they really are a credit to the school.

Tudor Owls- Friday (15th December) is cake day. This time it will be the turn of the children in Year 1 to provide biscuits and Y4 to provide cakes. Tudor Owls charge 20p for each cake or for two biscuits. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN CAKES/ BISCUITS THAT CONTAIN NUTS- THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! |
