Year 5 enjoy a day of watery learning with the help of the Boxmoor Trust!
The rivers in Hemel are one of the main physical geographical features, and keeping them clean is an important job. We have been to investigate how clean the water of the Bulborne is.
During the day, we looked for what was living there- using our river dipping skills to find a selection of creatures like shrimps.
Also, we measured the depth of the water to create a profile, which included the temperature and ph levels. As a group, we decided there is some high quality water at that point of the river.
As well as the rivers, the Grand Union Canal flows through Hemel and having this helped to change the different ways the town has grown. We were lucky enough to enjoy a trip on the Sheldrake III- we did have to do a little work when it came to the locks!
