How did the Romans change Britain?
This week we have been thinking more about the Roman invasion and then rule of Britain.
It wasn't all easy for the Roman army with Boudicca and some of the Celtic tribes fighting back, but they were not strong enough to defeat the organised army. We have been thinking about this from the point of view of the Celts and are currently writing a persuasive speech to drum up more support for Boudicca (hopefully we will have this for you soon).
One thing the Romans brought with them were the roads. We have looked at how they made their roads using stones and where they put them. Some of the paths are still used today and we had a great time looking at the towns they connected.
Rocks were very important in lots of the Roman's projects. They build towns and many, many buildings using them. We have been challenged to find the more hard wearing/durable rocks to complete the building of the new forum for the Senators Cosbious and Williamous (!). Using our experiences last week, we have planned what we are going to do...remember SAFETY FIRST.
